Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 5, 2026

This site sets no cookies. This page explains what it does store on your device, what the analytics collect, and how to stop them if you would rather not be counted.

Cookies

There are none. No first-party cookies, no third-party cookies, no tracking pixels. If you open your browser's storage inspector while reading this page, the cookie list is empty.

What this site stores on your device

One value, in local storage. A key called "theme" remembers whether you picked the light or dark color scheme, so the page does not flash the wrong one when you come back. It stays in your browser, it is not an identifier, and clearing your site data deletes it.

Analytics

This site runs Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. Both are cookieless. They write nothing to your device and they cannot follow you to other websites. They collect:

  • Page views, the referring page, and your country
  • Browser, operating system, and device type
  • How long pages take to load and render

Vercel counts visitors with a hash it derives from the incoming request and discards every day. It does not identify you, and it cannot recognize you tomorrow.

No personal data is stored, nothing is sold to anyone, and none of it feeds advertising or profiling.

Why there is no consent banner

Consent rules under the ePrivacy Directive cover storing or reading information on your device. The analytics here do neither, and the theme preference is the kind of strictly necessary setting those rules exempt. A banner asking permission for cookies that do not exist would be theater, so I removed it.

Opting out

The analytics scripts load from this domain, under /_vercel/insights/ and /_vercel/speed-insights/. Blocking those paths in a content blocker stops them, and most privacy-focused blockers already do. The site works the same either way.

Draft previews

When I preview unpublished posts, Next.js sets two cookies, __prerender_bypass and __next_preview_data, so the site serves drafts instead of published pages. They appear only for me, after I sign in to the editor. Regular visitors never receive them.

Fonts and images

Fonts are self-hosted and images are proxied through this domain, so browsing the site does not send requests to anyone else's servers.
